Adventure Camp for Grades K-2
Leader: Emma Hallowell
July 10-14, 2023: 9:00am - 12:30pm
The main focus revolves around stories, curiosity, contemplation & exploring in the Weeks Memorial Forest. We will craft and build fairy houses and do long hikes IN the Broad Brook Creek! Truly an epic moment which is shared by all. Last year we discovered a clay deposit and had a great time making scuptures. So much to see when we look around. There are always surprises and there is always nature at helm.
Sound & Stream for Grades 2-5
Leaders: Matt Valentine & Jasmine Bete-Mitchell
July 24-28, 2023: 9:00am - 12:30pm
This will focus on listening, global sonic awareness (geography/sounds from around the world), creating “music”, improvising with nature, “songwriting” & beyond. NO musical skills are required and we promise campers will leave with some aural reverberations. It will be led by Matt Valentine & Jasmine Bete-Mitchell, we are anticipating a harmonically exciting week with earth/space sound.
Stage & Stream for Grades 5-8
Leader: Maia Gilmour
July 31-August 4, 2023: 9:00am - 3:30pm
As always it is an immersive & inspired workshop based program with a focus on PROCESS. We’ve kept journals, created storyboards, scripts, sets, incidental sounds…of course we’ve developed characters, scenes, monologues, mini plays along with many many theater games and exercises. This usually blossoms into a performance if the kids are into it at the end of camp. If the “show” happens it’s a fun window into the worlds they’ve created during Stage & Stream.
