Two Field Journal Workshops

From ship logs to explorers’ notebooks to garden diaries, field journals have a long and inspiring history. They hold worlds and tell us about the people who filled their pages, what they did, and where they went, whether far away or around their backyard.

In the first 2-hour workshop, Linda Lembke will teach the basics of bookmaking and guide participants in creating their own field journal with a pocket for small treasures and foldout pages to expand the reach of the book. All materials will be provided and each participant will take home a journal, ready for recording observations of their own choosing.

In the second 2-hour workshop, Carol Hendrickson will share ideas about what you might do with your field journals, including the work that she and others have done to fill pages with observations and personal memories. Participants will make a second small field journal and…
